US Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer and American Youth Soccer Organization agreed to adopt the seasonal year age group formation cycle for its players beginning with the 2026-2027 Season. Adoption of seasonal year age groups will allow the opportunity for more players to play club soccer with their school classmates.

This will be a return to the pre-2016 policy of forming the soccer year age groups to align with school-year calendars.  The Age Group Formation that will be implemented is the "Seasonal Year - Sept 1st - Aug 31st".
