On September 23rd, US Youth Soccer announced a major format change to the USYS National Championships. State Cup Champions will now advance directly to the National Championships, eliminating the traditional Southern Regionals which has historically been the stepping stone between State and National.

Some key factors in the decision to make the change include:

  • Creating a direct pathway to Nationals
  • Easing travel burdens on families by eliminating Regionals

This format change is the result of extensive feedback from member associations, clubs, coaches, and families.
